Sameh Emam's Iceberg Table: A Design Statement Against Global Warming

Emam's inspiration for the Iceberg Table came from an image depicting global warming and the melting ice. The designer wanted to draw attention to this pressing issue by creating a piece of furniture inspired by a natural element - the iceberg. The Iceberg Table is shaped like an iceberg surrounded by water. It is made of two slides of clear glass and iceberg-shaped white acrylic, crafted using CNC machines. The glass panels can rotate to provide multiple support options and give a sense of dynamism, similar to water. The lower glass panel symbolizes the water level in the past, while the upper panel represents the water level after the melting of icebergs due to global warming.

Emam's design is not only unique but also functional. The table measures 110 cm in length, 60 cm in width, and 50 cm in height. The rotating glass panel maximizes serving function, and the iceberg-shaped acrylic adds a touch of nature to any setting.

The Iceberg Table was created in Cairo, with the design process starting in July 2016 and concluding in February 2017.
